Diwan-I-Khas, Red Fort, perhaps by an eastern India artist, c.1810-15. The drawing forms part of the collection of James Chichely Hyde (1789-1867) which was made in India from 1806 to 1837. It seems to be the earliest known rendering of the Diwan-I-Khas. On the right can be seen Sahjahan's private apartments behind the one qanat the artist has decided to include and the beginning of the now vanished arcades that continued them round the courtyard in front of the Diwan-I-Khas. Stylistically, it bears no resmblance to contemporary Delhi work and b=may be a version of a drawing done by one of Col.Mackenzie's draughtsmen.
